ILLURE

Seductive illusion, live music, soaring vocals and a shot of burlesque and dance combine to ignite the senses and thrill the mind. ILLURE is a spectacular potion of love and lust, woven together with a Parisienne flair that will leave guests with a taste of vaudeville and the scent of desire.

ILLURE has been created by ding productions and features leading female illusionist ‘Charli’ Ashby, who has recently relocated to Australia following performances across America and Asia.

Vocalist Libby O’Donovan stars alongside a cast of four professional dancers showcasing her versatility, star quality, cabaret style and soaring vocal talent.

The show includes original music by Mark Ferguson along with songs by artists as diverse as Edith Piaf, Astor Piazzolla, Sting, Cole Porter and Nina Simone. Mark Ferguson leads the musical team and is a musical director of note having worked with performers such as James Morrison, Doug Parkinson, Julie Anthony, Angelique Kidjo and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.

ILLURE features the skewered box illusion, metamorphosis, percussion / tap, light illusions, compelling vocals, contemporary dance, hand magic and unique musical arrangements.

FROM THE CREATIVE PRODUCER

I have a little penchant for literature. My first year English lecturer would be shocked to discover this. My soiree with romantic literature and popular fiction really only began after people stopped insisting I read them! Perhaps this is a telling insight into my character, however... all this to say that the inspiration for “ILLURE” comes from my love of literature and the seductive and romantic characters that are brought to life within.

In particular the novels of Jane Austen, Anais Nin, Vladimir Nabokov, Emile Zola, gothic romance and tales from earlier centuries as well as contemporary fiction have all inspired various design elements within the show.

If “ILLURE” was a book it would be a great ‘page turner’ with each chapter (or new scene) alluring audiences closer and deeper into a world of illusion, dance and seduction.

However... putting aside the design inspiration for “ILLURE”, audiences can quite simply enjoy a fantastic show that would be proud to be counted among shows at the once famous Tivoli Circuit and emulates the variety style structure of Vaudeville. Each scene being structured around dance, illusion, live voice, audience participation, tap percussion, burlesque and escapes.

Featuring an outstanding cast of fantastic dancers, stunning illusionist, live vocals and leading musicians, this cast of nine artists create a sumptuous feast for audiences.
